About Me

Welcome to my site! I am grateful you’ve taken the time to read my words and to hear my story.

My name is Olivia (Liv) and I am 23 years old. I grew up in Mountain Home, Arkansas and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Fayetteville remains my favorite place on the planet. Here, I attained my B.S. in Public Health and met my best friends and biggest mentors. I changed my major a total of 4 times in 4 years – Music education, Nursing, Social Work, then Public Health. I know that what I truly want to do is help and empower people and make a positive impact on the world. But I’m still working on finding out just what that entails (and how to get paid for it).

fullsizeoutput_3026I moved to Oxford, Mississippi in July of 2018 to pursue my Masters Degree at Ole Miss but took a medical leave to seek treatment for an eating disorder, depression, and PTSD at the Renfrew Center of Florida October 18 – December 3rd. I am not sure what my plan is for the future, but I do know that I would like to be happy and free of the burdens that have held me back for so long. I want to help people and make the world brighter.

Most of my life I have been very quiet. My biggest defense mechanism is silence and passivity. I keep a lot of things on the inside. But I learned the hard way that this is not good for my mental health. So as I have started to process and heal from the things I’ve been through, I realize that my story is powerful. And I don’t want to be quiet any more. I kind of want to scream all of it out into the universe now.

This blog is what I use to process, heal, and share my story. This is where I’ve found my voice. I hope that you can learn or gain something from my words. Or that they are able to help you in some way.

I have also made this blog a safe place for anyone who has ever felt like they did not have a voice. If you have a story that you’d like to share, read my post Letters to Liv.

I suggest starting with part one of my story. Part one, Part two, and Part Three relay my own experiences of sexual assault. Part Four leads to me reporting a sexual assault in Part five. And Part six is a message to others that they are not alone.

I am starting to post more about my eating disorder recovery and what I’ve gained from Renfrew Center. If you want to know what treatment was like through my perspective, read about: My process leading up to treatmentDay 1, Day 2, Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 pt 1Week 3 Pt. 2, Week Four Pt. 1, Week Four pt. 2, Week Four pt. 3, Week Five pt. 1, Week Five pt. 2, Week Five pt. 3.

If reading these posts brings up anything for you and you need an unbiased ear to talk to, email me at aoliviadyer@gmail.com and we can set up a time to talk. If you need help finding resources in your area, I can try and help you with this too. I’d love to hear your thoughts and feelings in the comments or by email as well.

I want everyone who reads this blog to know that you are brave, you are loved, and you are enough.
